@ Chuckachu, you have to set up a dynamic with the XO where you are the one to worry about that squad, so your superior can just give you general objectives. Similarly, don't talk to the SL's squad and bypass him.

  • TehSpoderman28 Jun 2017, 13:46
    Jake u suck
  • Rhicora28 Jun 2017, 13:46
It's about being friendly and responsive but it can totally done (except in rare cases with stubborn SLs)
  • Chuckachu28 Jun 2017, 13:47
Haha I hear you. Most of my work as So was relaying deaths and bitching at cargo.
  • Rhicora28 Jun 2017, 13:49
    Bitching at cargo is important.
  • Chuckachu28 Jun 2017, 13:49
I always would pick Charlie when I would SO since they were my first squad when I came back to CM. most of the times they would talk up to the CO/XO and they would reply directly. Usually I'd be given discreation to open mic with the squad after the SL would fall and the CO would let me chose the new lead since I watch the team the whole OP.

I've gone down to Cargo put together a Charlie crate shoved it on the pad and ran back upstairs yelling into to my headset for charlie to get clear of their supply beacon in ten seconds as I climbed back into my chair.
  • Rhicora28 Jun 2017, 13:51
@ Chuckachu, the rite of SO passage.
  • Rhicora28 Jun 2017, 13:51
Only once you personally escort a crate to the drop pad, you're a real SO.
  • Rhicora28 Jun 2017, 13:52
I describe how this goes in my SO guide XD viewtopic.php?f=94&t=13130
  • Chuckachu28 Jun 2017, 13:53
Sadly I only had two rounds that I felt that usefull over the course of the year. Before I late joined as a PO once and had a blast. Landed, wipped out my SMG shot a runner in the face, saved they guy he knocked down drug him on the ship and the damn thing knocked me down and took my hand. yelled for CIC to launch my dropship as i was done in 30 seconds. Hoped up grabbed my gun and got back on the ship just in time for it to take off. died of blood loss on the way, feeling like a champ.
  • Rhicora28 Jun 2017, 13:57
PO is an interesting one because you're an officer and an absolutely essential marine, but you also have a clear view of what's going on groundside, and you are pretty likely to be in the line of fire at some point.
  • Chuckachu28 Jun 2017, 14:01
The DS2 disappearing back door bug is the worst part of being PO as there is NO warning when that crap happens. One second you are fine the nest you are blacking out suffucating and get flung around.

@ Chuckachu, wait, is this a bug where the door disappears while you are literally in space?

I assumed it was a bug. Last night while heading back to the ship with a survivor DS2's door just vanished and we all started suffucating.
  • Casgair28 Jun 2017, 14:33
Did it get acid prior to takeoff?
  • Casgair28 Jun 2017, 14:33
The acid sprite doesn't travel with the object that's been barfed on, but will be deleted by the acid all the same
  • Chuckachu28 Jun 2017, 14:34
It was near round start and there was no acid. That was my last none fire mission of the round and keeping the shutters and the cockpit door close kept me safe on fire missions so I never really looked into it. Plus when I asked a MT he said he was to lazy to put more doors there so I just went about kicking ass and ignored it.
  • Jaketeaking28 Jun 2017, 14:34
Wouldnt matter, the transit doors should have stopped it
  • Casgair28 Jun 2017, 14:34
Transit shutters only kick in when the doors aren't there, I thought?
  • Chuckachu28 Jun 2017, 14:35
Which was what in hindsight makes me think it was a bug or admins as the trainsit shutters raised themselves mid flight.
  • Chuckachu28 Jun 2017, 14:36
Really was just making note of it in case I saw or it happened to me again since I wasn't really paying close attention at that part of the round as I was on the phone.
  • Casgair28 Jun 2017, 14:36
Do transit shutters auto-drop regardless of whether or not the door is there? I totally forget
  • Jaketeaking28 Jun 2017, 14:37
    Yes
  • Chuckachu28 Jun 2017, 14:37
In my experience they always drop if they exist as they fly.
  • Jaketeaking28 Jun 2017, 14:38
They have to, or it kills everybody on board. if you notice again, make a bug report
  • Chuckachu28 Jun 2017, 14:41
I will. But I was super busy as the moment medical stopped my suffucation was when Bill and the other SL went nuts with the murder rain requests. I was walking around with shorting out hands trying to reload the whole ship while a MT just casually walked past. haha
  • Jaketeaking28 Jun 2017, 14:50
Wait, this the round last night? you paul?
  • Chuckachu28 Jun 2017, 14:58
    Yup!
  • Chuckachu28 Jun 2017, 14:58
Vastly amused by the ask for a nickname and a mentor suggested Flyer or Wind.
  • Jaketeaking28 Jun 2017, 15:00
Yeah, i was the other SL, you got some good hits, on one of my lases, you hit a boiler and a drone dead on, exploded em both instantly
  • Chuckachu28 Jun 2017, 15:02
Nice! I've been putting his kills in his record haha. "Flyer has 8 confirmed CAS kills to his record."

  • Jaketeaking28 Jun 2017, 15:11
    Nope, its a bug alright
  • Chuckachu28 Jun 2017, 15:15
    A known bug as well.
  • Chuckachu28 Jun 2017, 15:15
It was reported about a week or two ago. Think it showed up as part of the barricade/DS update.
  • Jaketeaking28 Jun 2017, 15:21
Not seeing it reported in the bugs section
  • Chuckachu28 Jun 2017, 15:27
Curious. Maybe someone was jsut discussing it in here.
  • Ex0demon28 Jun 2017, 15:39
We can make a map suggestion on the forums?i got an iidea of a new map,not a planet,a destroyed ship (infected with aliens, predadors [and even zombies in z rounds] )
  • Chuckachu28 Jun 2017, 15:45
I would imagine that you can. Also due to how annoying byond can be to map in I'd imagine it'll also be a tough sell. But even if it takes a long time to pull off the idea might get put in the future.
