Human Death Screams

CM Version (alpha or Regular): Alpha

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Add in soundeffect when humans are killed.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Such Realism

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Right before a human dies he or she let's out a scream.

It can be any scream admins could just add a list that you can choose from before you spawn.

This should definitely spice up things but i think the scream should be at different pitches for each character.(you could set it to randomise the scream for each round?)

This could be interesting, I'll see what Rahlzel wants to do, he's done a LOT of our recent sound stuff.

OH, Maybe the Wilhelm scream?

if we do have Wilhelm screen make it rare not everyone.

Maybe have it so you can choose in setup character ? that might be interesting if it can be done.

Oh hell yes. I'd love to do this. I'll try to get a handful of female and male screams to audibly tell the difference.

A lot of SS13 servers already have this, as well as scream sounds when you're badly wounded (like when your arm is busted and you drop what you have in your had). I know Hippie station alone has the Whiliam Scream AND that "AAAH HOO HOO HOOEY!" Goofy scream added to the random scream list. Fucking hilarious.

See no reason not to add.

Also it could be an interesting feature to hear screams over headsets. It would definitely add to the horror of aliens.

It'd be cool if the screams were text, and you could set it. If the person has a headset on, the scream could be heard on comms. And, if it could randomly cut off during the scream.

Example.

Urist McMarine screams "MAMA!" DON'T LE--!"

John Doe screams "JANE I'M SOR--!"

John Smith screams "FUKKEN XEEEENOOOO--!"

Some servers have that as well. Essentially, if you get hit aggressively in some way, it automatically posts what you're typing, and cuts it off where you left off with a "-GERK!"

After doing some preliminary research and looking around for sounds, I've come to understand what might be a better solution here - a short, 2-3 second, fading flatline sound.

1. Not everyone is going to die from getting slashed by a Xeno. Death will come from bleeding out, overdosing on chems, and in the case of some rounds, old age. Having a death rattle for some deaths will just seem silly.
2. Having the code find out how the player died is not a simple task. Even if it were, a Xeno might be ripping a Marine to shreds, and then suddenly one second later the player dies from blood loss because a tic caused it to finish him off. If the blood loss death sound was something like a long final breath, it'd be a little silly hearing it while the marine is getting slashed up when it should sound more like a scream.
3. Not everyone's going to be happy with the voices I choose. They'll think a particular scream/sigh/gasp doesn't sound like the "booming deep voice" or whatever that they've concocted for their character.

For these reasons, a flatline sound feels more generic and universal. It fits all of the above scenarios and still works. It can also easily be embedded into "lore" by giving the marines an upgraded health chip or something, so it'll make sense from an RP viewpoint.

Here's an example of a flatline sound

EDIT: Had a chat with Apophis. I'm leaning towards screams again. A little silly is OK. I'll probably have a few death rattles with a Wilhelm scream mixed in to be chosen randomly.
