+1 if it can be done, but AFAIK, it would need a designated LZ where it would "crash."

Also in a couple of rounds this will get fun but. What if they just defend the upper level...

Could always have it crash on either the lower or upper levels. Add some variety to defending the Sulaco and making it more important to hold the planet/prison/whatever.

+1 to something besides the egrille plasteel hangar defense.

I'm pretty sure I saw this suggestion before. It's doable, but the shuttle/droppod trip will be one way only with the way shuttles work. You can pretty much crash it into any area of the ship that could physically fit it, like briefing, prep, etc. I don't really see a problem with this. The victory conditions should be adjusted to something like, if no aliens are remaining on the Sulaco, marines win, since the shuttle is no longer usable. But I'm sure not everyone will agree.

+1 Great idea, probs wont get implemented due to the devs not wanting to code anything out of their schedule

All you had to was kill the demm spec ravager.

Anyway. +1, just have no idea how the devs would do it.

Only if there's an equal chance that the shuttle gets lost in space or outright explodes, killing everything aboard.

But seriously, not only would this be a nightmare to code due to how shuttles are handled (taking every item inside a shuttle area, recording its relative x-y position, and then meticulously moving it over to the next shuttle area while ignoring anything that doesn't fit) it would be a nightmare ingame because it effectively removes an important resource from play without really adding much to the game, as well as potentially forming breaches, making breaches easier, or just straight-up deleting things it shouldn't.

Also, chances are the shuttles are on autopilot anyway, since they're just set to change destinations with a single button and the 'pilot' can then go fuck about in the back.

The shuttle exploding part would be massively overpowered and give the marines a guaranteed 50% chance of winning every time. The RP idea here is that the queen said fuck it and just slashed the computer to bits after launch, effectively ruining the autopilot. All the code for shuttles and shit is already there, just make a new one partially embedded in different parts of the sulaco.

that was a joke, doofus.

'just make a new one' is not how it works. Shuttles work very specifically on areas, so you'd have a shuttle area partially intersecting a large part of the sulaco if you wanted to do this - and because of how areas work, this means you can ONLY have that shuttle area present, and therefore have to work around the fact that things there will either be running without using any power, or need an APC for a shuttle-shaped section of the station conspiciously marked 'shuttle crash point'
Which is, as you may gather, is about as smart as gluing your balls to the ceiling fan.

Solid ceiling fan joke. If you put the shuttle area directly adjacent to the ship that might work fine, where it only intersects some walls and windows which don't require power. If you were committed and wanted to have it fully imbedded in the sulaco, you could just pick a large enough area where you can pass off the extra apc as "distributing power load" or some RP bullshit.

Or you can just make a different Z-Level and have some sort of ladder with sprites resembling steel trusses that lead up to another part of the sulaco, that open up only when a xeno climbs first.

The entire idea is so that it won't. It would be balanced and random enough so that the aliens would be basically guaranteed to win, which apparently is what boarding was intended to be.

+1 another good idea, however usually when the aliens are riding up to the sully, chances are the marines are fuckered.
