Non-Judical Punishments

Post by Nick123q23 » 24 Jul 2017, 12:07

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Being thrown in the brig for atleast five minutes for just talking and behaving like marines just out of cryosleep would isn't a fun experience for anybody.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): This would arguably make being arrested for a minor offense less soul-destroying and more engaging.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): As an alternative to minor offenses, such as Disrespect to a Superior, Hooliganism. Improper Uniform, Drinking on Duty, and similiar charges, the offending marine may be forced to perform a Non-Judical Punishment. Such as push ups, running laps in the hangar, or assigned a less-preferable duty such as cleaning the canteens, etc, instead of serving time in the brig for their charge.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Edit the Marine Law page

Pretty cool, at least gives you something to do instead of going AFK for 15 minutes

Can't wait to see the CMO forced to do 40 pushups in the middle of a medbay full of crits because he gave a pill of peridaxon to a medic.
But that's fun so +1
Sa'id Al Akavir - friendly medic
Dastan Al Akavir - old-timer doctor
Vito Cordoba - loyal officer
Ludvigs Von Storm - grumpy engineer

I was under the impression that all medical staff, CMO included, were civilian contractors. Ergo wouldn't they not have to do that?

+1 to this suggestion in either case, I always thought brigging encouraged anti-RP in a lot of scenarios since you're just sitting in a cell. NJP will lead to more interesting RP.

I had this linger in my head a long time ago, just never really got myself to suggest it.

Sure, why not. +1

If pushups become a thing, it should be a verb with a cooldown so that it isn't spammed to get out of a punishment easily.

Curious as to what you think marines coming cryosleep would talk and behave like?

Rowdy and tired. Hence the text MPs are given.

Parole is already implemented in the game, it is just that nobody uses it. Whenever I go CMP I always offer the low tier crimes an option of giving blood to be let out on parole. Personally I think the OJ Simpson option could be used more but you tend to get Jack Knight as CMP.
