Subject: All relevant information regarding UPP forces related to assignment duties to Tychon's Rift
Addendum: Your request for information regarding UPP forces has been approved due to the fact that a detachment of UPP forces exist within your operational zone.
The UPP Armed Forces, also known as the Armed Forces of the Union of Progressive Peoples, is the military wing of the Union of Progressive People. The UPP Armed Forces consists of four major branches, the Army, the Aeroforce, the Space Force and the Marines.
In general the UPP Armed Forces are far less technologically advance than the United Americas Allied Command, with some exceptions. However the UPP Armed Forces enlist far more manpower than the entire UAAC combined.
The 'UPP Army' forms the backbone of the UPP armed forces, the UPP Army primarily made up of reservists and conscripts and is equipped for traditional ground warfare and near planet naval operations.
Approximately half of the UPP Army is based on Earth within UPP territory. The remainder of the Army is spread amongst the known UPP colonies and primarily acts as a defensive force. However the Army is capable of offensive actions in times of war.
Estimates put the numerical strength of the UPP army to be anywhere from ca. 1.2 million to 2.9 million soldiers.
The vast majority of the UPP Army uses outdated and outmoded military equipment, training is considered to be subpar as well. Numerical superiority and rapid assault tactics seem to be the main leverage the UPP Army employs.
The 'UPP Aeroforce' is responsible for providing air support and maneuverability to all other branches of the UPP Armed Forces, the majority of the Aeroforces are attached to one of the three other Branches and operate in close tandem with them.
Most specialized or advanced craft are typically deployed with the UPP Marines, with the UPP Army getting the least advanced aircraft.
Little information is known of the internal workings of the UPP Aeroforce.
The 'UPP Navy' remains a cornerstone of the UPP Armed Forces, responsible for the development and operation of UPP warships and other military craft.
The UPP Navy operates craft in similar classification to the United States AeroSpace Forces, from Troop Transports to Assault Ships.
In relation to Tychon's Rift, the only known UPP Fleet ship known to operate within the zone is a single Vozrozhdeniya-Class Attack Transport. The Vozrozhdeniya Class ship the latest UPP fleet ship design, only three ships are known to exist. The ship has a Marine detachment complement of 150, and a crew compliment of 20+. In comparison to the USS Almayer, an Arikara-class patrol transport, the Vozrozhdeniya-Class ship has superior armour, four 0.80cm/150 Almaz Railguns and 20 Anti-Missile firing tubes. However the Vozrozhdeniya lacks the more advanced sensor and stealth systems of the Almayer, is twice the size and moves only at 2/3rds the speed of the Almayer.
Further information on the UPP Navy has been redacted for this document.
The 'UPP Marines' are a relatively new branch of the UPP Armed Forces. Force strength estimates put the strength of the Marines between 100,000 to 450,000 Marines, the number is likely on the lower end of the scale. It is believed the UPP Marines were created as one of several responses after the Tientsin Campaign of 2165, to grant the UPP a greater ability to project force in distant star systems, and to respond to attacks or situations rapidly and far quicker than the UPP Army could.
Unlike the UPP Army, the UPP Marines are made up of professionally trained soldiers and veterans of the UPP Army. In addition, the UPP Marines are issued with cutting edge military weapons, armour and equipment that is on par with the closest USCM equilivant, and in some areas is superior.
The most commonly seen weapon in the hands of UPP Marines are...
- : Type 71 Pulse Rifle: A new generation Pulse Rifle over the venerable Type 55, the Type 71 was pressed into service to fit the demands of the new UPP Marines. Chambered with 7.62x39mm heavy rifle rounds in a 40 round magazine. The rifle is designed to be employed in a large range of hostile environments. The weapon, however, suffers from major reliability issues due to its rushed deployment, and is prone to jamming in the field, granting it the nickname of 'The Clanker' due to the loud noise it makes when it jams. The weapon has yet to see deployment in the UPP Army.
- : The CZ-81: Something old in something new. The CZ-81 is a newly designed weapon based off of a weapon of the same name from the 20th century. This SMG style weapon is typically employed by UPP support Marines such as Medics or Engineers.
