On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate? 15-20
Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)? I used to work on an Arma milsim server
Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers? No.
What other servers do you play on? None, currently.
What are the 3 biggest servers you play on besides CM? Before CM, I played on aurora, tg, and paradise
Have you had an application to Colonial Marines before? Yes, I have one other mod application and an accepted commander application.
Are you currently a staff member elsewhere (not just SS13)? If so, where? No.
Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on Colonial Marines? No.
Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on ANY server? If so, where and When (roughly)? I have never been banned on any server.
Are you familiar with the chat program Slack (its use is required)? Yes, I use it daily.
Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each situation (BELOW) the situation. If you start it on the same line, I'll assume you can't follow directions and auto-decline your application.
1. A player is firing his weapon in the briefing area near the start of the round.
I would let the MPs deal with this ICly. If they wounded anyone, I would aheal the wounded then I would message them and send them a warning about doing this and if they ever did this again it would be a ban. I would then record this in their notes. If this wasn't their first time doing this, I would give them a 3 hour ban for griefing.
2. The Sulaco has a breach to space.
I would first look at what caused it, if it was a pred bomb I would let the MTs handle it IC. If it was done by an MT to fix something, I would ask them why they are doing that and if it was a legit reason, no actions would be taken. If someone blew open the ship on purpose, I would wall the breach and give them a 3 day ban for griefing and note that they did that. If the person who breached it had notes of other acts like this, I would increase the ban to a 7 day ban and ask for an upgrade to perma.
3. The marines want the nuke codes because they claim they are losing too many marines. There are currently 4 aliens and 20 marines in your /who.
I, as a moderator, would not give out the codes unless a head staff member told me I could. In this situation I would not anyway. I would try to suggest to the current commander that the aliens are routing
4. A Sulaco researcher has made several napalm grenades and hands them out to marines. One of the marines throws the grenade into Logistics. There are no admins or other moderators online.
I would sleep the grenade thrower and aheal anyone damaged. I would then check the thrower's notes and if they were clean, I would give them a warning. If they had done actions like this before I would give them a 3 hour ban and record it in the notes. If for whatever reason the thrower was known for griefing, I would up the ban to 24 hours. I would message the researcher about being more careful about handing out grenades.
5. A played is starting to talk about the things he did with your mom last night over Ahelp.
I would tell them this use of ahelp is not allowed then warn them to cut it out. I then would record their actions along with my warning. If they had done actions like this before, I would give them an hour ban and record it.
6. You notice a marine with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules.
First, I would message them saying their name is not allowed and if I had name changing powers, I would ask them what they want their new name to be. I would leave if at that if they cooperated.
6a. The marine is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, noone has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
I would tell them they have no excuse to not know all the rules as it is the first thing you see, and then tell them it is not wise to argue with any staff members. I would make a note of his argumentative personality.
7. You see a Sulaco Doctor with an M41A rifle strapped to his back running around the briefing area. There are wounded in medbay, and the other doctor is in surgery.
I would message the doctor to drop the rifle and head to help his patients. Next, I would write a note on how he was not doing his job. I would warn him about doing his job and if they continued ignoring their job, they could get a possible job ban. If their notes said they had done this before, I would ban them for an hour and request a job ban.
8. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
I would message him saying that as a medic, he would not know surgery and tell him to finish up the surgery and stop doing it. I would record this in his notes. If the medic's notes said they were doing this frequently, I would up the warning to a ban and request a job ban.
9. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the Sulaco, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
If possible, I would use the scanner to show the difference and 'recommend' the commander to finish off the alien menace.
10. The round ends, and a marine starts unloading his weapons on other marines.
I would add a note to the player who did it and ban them for 3 hours for EORG. If he had done it before, I would double the time and give him 6 hours.
11. A marine who has recently awoken is using soap to slip other marines.
Unless he was doing this planetside, I would let the MPs deal with this IC.
12. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
I would warn him that is not the way to escalate a situation and let the MPs deal with him IC. I would record his actions in a note. If their notes said they did this before, I would ban them for 3 hours for improper escalation.
Any additional information you'd like to add?
Since my last application, I have grown in my understanding of both the server itself and how the rules function. I would be honored to get a chance at being a part of the staff. I would love to hear any suggestions on how I can improve this application and how to improve myself aswell.
