[Mark Wilson] William 'Jester' Crimson report.

Post by Mark Wilson » 17 Sep 2017, 20:58

Your Byond Key:Tactical 445

Your Character Name: Mark Wilson

Accused Byond Key(if known):not sure

Character Name: William 'Jester' Crimson

Approximate time and date of the incident (Central US Time for fastest results):7:25

What rule(s) were broken: Maybe rule number one(don't be a dick), But rule number one for marine rules for sure.( Lethal Force)

Description of the incident: Okay so here is what happened, Me as the CL was with a hurt survivor in the CIC, we were going to run to evac, and the CO runs out the front door while I follow, pulling the survivor on a roller bed. About two seconds after we get out of the door a boiler shoots a gass glob at us, I quickly start pushing the roller bed back into the CIC, after being burned a bit by the acid, BUT right as I'm about to walk up to let the CO who is right behind me in, he pulls out his pistol and blast me in the right hand, Mind you I was already hurt from the gass. anyway, the CO shoots me to the ground so he can get through the door faster, even though I was JUST about to move for him. pretty much he killed me so he could "save himself" but i'm about 90% sure he would have survived either way. if he really needed to, he could have disarmed me...

Evidence (screenshots, logs, etc):The logs went up too quick, but the time I gave you should be pretty accurate. I don't remember the survivor's last name, but his first was Ian, it may have been Ian Evans. I think Max Terry saw it too.

How you would punish the accused: I would him to ether get a warning, or CO removal.

I don't know, He was one tile away from being safe, but he wanted to get on that tile about a half a second faster, so why not blow the CL away? seems reasonable.

Hey dude, there was no outright intention to execute you on the spot out of malicious intent, nor was it an excuse to simply meme-execute, however when you followed us out, you pretty much block our retreat (due to the rollerbed) Myself, and my MP escort were melting in the acid because you chose to follow us outside the CIC when ordered to remain inside.

Myself and the other MP were on critical health, my specialist was dead and you were blocking the door, while a runner and hunter rushed towards us, while we melted in the acid.

As you can see, both myself and my escort (who I spent around 2 hours roleplaying with from the start) were dying, and you were the WY Liason replacement (previous one was detained for leaking HC reports and we spent the majority of the mission at each others throats, but I digress)

So, the choice was simply, shoot you and lower the rollerbed blocking us or risk myself and the MP dying.

We all got in alive, then we all dropped from paincrit. Only one person having the medical kit, the MPs chose to save me, as I was trying to remain alive to either reactivate the pods or flee via DS2 while marines activated SD.

I can see why you'd be a bit annoyed but because you followed us out, you just ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Regarding the "disarming" argument", lets be honest, the disarming mechanism doesn't even disarm most the time, never mind pushing people over.

TLDR:

Civilians ordered to remain in the CIC
My specialist gets attacked by runner + hunter
Go out to help him, escort follows me
Civilains begin to follow despite orders not to
Acid cloud hits end of CIC, covering all but the bottom door,
Everyone is in crit, CL blocks entrance with rollerbed
I shoot him once in the hand to save myself and MP
Other MP chooses to treat me first
Ravager breaks in CIC, no time for treatment because..
Ravager in CIC vs 1 unarmed MP, and two paincritted MP + CO
You get forgotten about when the full hive begins smashing down CIC windows.

I'd like to note, this is during a delta alert while trying to scuttle the ship, and seeing as you were told to remain in the CIC, you'd have been technically executable. Personally, I saw this as an IC situation but if you'd instead try catch me out on a technicality, there you go

Well, I may be wrong, but I remember you saying we were gonna move to evac and you were going to manually launch us, so when you ran out of the door I assumed that we were heading to evac, also I'm pretty sure I had already pushed the rollerbed far enough to move north and let you guys in. Right as I was about to move, you blasted me.

Manual launch can only be done by the console, once was cancelled (ARES then proceeded to tell us evac was unavailable anyway. )

I wouldn't of sent you to evac simply because it'd a terrible place to defend, especially with evac offline. You must of misheard me.

I personally see very little to gain from this report, through a series of events, you ended up blocking the only exit through a series of events and during the scrabble for the door, you were shot.

This is tragic but considering as I said, the delta alert, the cloud of acid melting our faces and the 2 aliens behind us, it doesn't really seem that my actions were either malicious or an abuse of the rules. This is no different to people fighting over the last evacuation pod,

The fact you're looking at this purely mechanically shows our differences. This is an IC situation, one of those reallt cool tragic moments you see in the movies. Instead you see my actions as mechanically ineffecient, hell you even give bloody percentages.

This was a 2 to 3 hour round with a lot of RP and sweat in it. I wouldn't really do anything different regarding this situation if it presented itself exactly the same again.

Well, now that I look at it that way it makes more sense, I just feel like it's a bit unrealistic to blow a civilians face off like that...pushing me would have been a better solution.

You're thinking of all this in terms of modern day war standards.

This is an alien force, which has never been seen before (by the CO at least) which has wiped out almost all his highly trained marines, boarded the vessel and caused a breach. Everything is always civilised until shit hits the fan.

Not to mention this is a universe where people are ultimately expendable, look at the critstobal massacre, or peel away any further lore and you'll see that.

Resolving this.

In the future, don't shoot people simply because they're blocking you.
However, seeing as I observed the situation first hand it was understandable.
