I think that this console could open up T1, T2 and T3 slots.
If the queen wants two boilers and two crushers, then she can open up slots accordingly.

People already have the "hive does not support your choice of evolution", so to just have another text if queen restriction is in place may not be such a big change.

The panel should not have restrictions until the queen activates the restrictions through said panel.

Normal xenos should be able to see this panel (read-only access), so that the question "what shall I be" will be already answered there.
As a queen, I find that the quick scrolling through "hive status" does not give me the overview to decide. I usually see if I have enough drones and two crushers.

Thats one of best stuff i ever seen. Hope it comes in. +1
Also give option to highlight evolutions so that ayyliens know what they should go. Tier 2 and 3 should unhighlight after someone evolves there.
Janina 'Bullseye' Jardine- Never misses, but what she DOES hit is another thing

This place would be so much better if marines were replaced with cyborgs, atleast those would follow orders. assuming there was a rule forcing them to do so...

Thanks.
The more I play, the more I see the need for it.

Just this layout:
wiki/images/thumb/5/53/Evolution.png/60 ... lution.png
(mere text based is fine)

And then three numbers by each type:
* The cap (set by the queen). Default unlimited
* The current number of alive upgraded units.
* The current number of alive "young" units.

And maybe some total / sum. Both totaling the number of sisters and showing the current system caps for T3 and T2 ("hive does not support...." error message thingy). So that the queen will know how many n-tier slots she has available to begin with.

Frankly, I would use it more than the "hive status" screen, which could still serve as a phone book.

I like the whole idea but pretty satisfied with what it's like right now. But it may add another layer to the game for xenos.

+1 To this and +1 to what Steel suggested.
Having both an easy way to manage evolutions and know the location of your xenos, would vastly improve tactics and teamwork.

+ 1

Makes Queen less of a mini-admin without the administrative abilities.

Now a Queen can finally enforce her actual rule on the xenos instead of just ahelping almost every round.

After playing rounds where there's six boilers, contrary to the queen's wishes, before any other tier 3 aliens, I +1 this idea completely.

+1 Sorely needed. It can be unrestricted by default and unrestricted upon queen death. The queen has absolute control and this is how. I think the correct use is for the queen to set it up at round start to indicate what T2's and T3's composition she would like and the larvae/younglings can choose their paths accordingly. I do not think queen should be restrictive just to be restrictive.

It is to alleviate the queen from all the nagging and to enforce upon those who don't listen, but go unnoticed, anyway.

We need this on the queen side. Just had a round where I wanted two crushers and two boilers and instead I got six ravs.

+1 to the Hive Management System for sure, sounds like a brilliant idea with great use for xenos

-1 to xenos getting their evolutions unlocked if queen dies/AFK's..... it is the way it is currently for a reason: the queen dying HURTS the hive, dramatically, like cutting a piece of their heart out, so they can't evolve till they get past the horrifying trauma of mommy being murdered. in fact if "all xenos have all evolutions unlocked" then who would even give a fuck if the queen died? it would actually be a xeno buff in fact

Regarding "upon queen death". I only meant that the restrictions put in place using the suggested management panel would go away. Evolution would still be restricted by supported slot cap and by the fact that the evolution timer does not run.
Thus, the next queen is free to ignore the panel as well as free to place restrictions in place.

We have this already in the sense that the queen has this authority over the hive. It just saves a lot of typing for everybody as well as the immersion break, and ensuing verbal abuse, when people are evolving in spite of the queen say-so.

Please allow ghosts to see what the queen wants before deciding to enter larva.

No SSD young sentinels that wanted to be runners but got locked out, please.

Another reason to implement this is so that the queen can get carriers/hivelords. By the time drones can evolve, sentinel and runners have usually taken all T2 slots.
